Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapy services support individuals in developing the skills needed for daily living, independence, and meaningful participation in everyday activities. We provide personalized, in-home therapy designed to meet each individual where they are and support growth in a way that feels natural, engaging, and relevant.

What We Help With

Occupational therapy may address a variety of areas, including:

  • Fine motor skills (grasping, writing, hand strength, coordination)
  • Sensory processing and regulation
  • Self-care skills (dressing, feeding, hygiene, daily routines)
  • Play skills and functional participation
  • Attention, regulation, and transitions
  • Creating and implementing sensory diets

Our goal is to help each individual build the skills needed to participate more independently and successfully in their daily routines.

What Therapy Looks Like

At Lauralee’s Therapy, services are provided in the home environment, where individuals are most comfortable and where skills are naturally practiced and reinforced.

Therapy sessions are:

  • Individualized and tailored to each person’s needs
  • Functional and focused on everyday routines and independence
  • Engaging, motivating, and designed around each individual’s interests—incorporating play, sensory activities, and meaningful experiences when appropriate
  • Supportive of both the individual and their caregivers

For many of the individuals we serve, particularly those with autism, sensory needs play a significant role in daily functioning. Our therapists incorporate sensory-based strategies and activities to support regulation, participation, and overall success throughout the day.

We strive to make therapy enjoyable and motivating, while still maintaining a strong focus on building meaningful, functional skills. For younger individuals, this often includes play-based and sensory-rich activities, while for older individuals, therapy is adapted to be age-appropriate and focused on independence and daily life.

We believe that progress happens best when therapy is practical, consistent, engaging, and connected to everyday experiences.

Our Approach

We take a family-centered, collaborative approach to therapy. Caregivers are an essential part of the process, and we prioritize education, communication, and support so that strategies can be carried over into daily routines.

We work closely with families to:

✔️ Create and implement sensory strategies and routines
✔️ Support regulation and transitions throughout the day
✔️ Build skills that promote independence in real-life situations

With extensive experience working with individuals within the DDD community, we understand the importance of consistency, flexibility, and individualized care. Our team collaborates with other providers to ensure a coordinated and supportive plan of care.
