Feeding Therapy

Our feeding therapy services support individuals in developing a positive relationship with food and increasing comfort, variety, and participation during mealtimes. We provide personalized, in-home therapy designed to meet each individual where they are and support progress in a way that feels safe, engaging, and meaningful.

What We Help With

Feeding therapy may address a variety of areas, including:

  • Picky eating and limited food variety
  • Sensory sensitivities related to food (textures, smells, appearance)
  • Difficulty trying new foods
  • Mealtime routines and participation
  • Food aversions and refusal
  • Expanding acceptance of different food groups

Our goal is to help individuals feel more comfortable with food while supporting families in creating more positive and successful mealtime experiences.

What Therapy Looks Like

At Lauralee’s Therapy, feeding services are provided in the home environment, where meals naturally occur and where progress is most meaningful.

Therapy sessions are:

  • Individualized and tailored to each person’s needs
  • Sensory-based and focused on building comfort with food at each individual’s pace
  • Engaging, motivating, and designed around each person’s interests
  • Supportive of both the individual and their caregivers

We take a gradual, supportive approach to feeding therapy, helping individuals explore new foods through play, exposure, and positive experiences—without pressure.
For many of the individuals we serve, feeding challenges are closely connected to sensory processing. Our therapists incorporate sensory-based strategies to help increase comfort, reduce stress, and build confidence during mealtimes.

We believe that progress happens best when therapy is consistent, supportive, and integrated into everyday routines.

Our Approach

We take a family-centered, collaborative approach to feeding therapy. Caregivers are an essential part of the process, and we provide guidance, education, and practical strategies that can be carried over into daily meals.

We work closely with families to:

✔️ Create positive, low-pressure mealtime routines
✔️Support gradual exposure to new foods
✔️Build consistency and structure around meals
✔️Reduce stress and frustration during mealtimes

With experience supporting individuals within the DDD community, we understand that feeding is not just about food—it’s about comfort, regulation, and the overall mealtime experience.

Is Feeding Therapy Right For My Child?

Feeding therapy may be helpful if your child:

  • Eats a very limited variety of foods
  • Refuses to try new foods
  • Difficulty trying new foods
  • Has strong reactions to certain textures, smells, or appearances of food
  • Becomes upset or anxious during mealtimes
  • Prefers the same foods prepared in very specific ways
  • Has difficulty sitting at the table or participating in family meals

If you find that mealtimes are stressful or challenging, you are not alone—and support is available.

Our approach focuses on building comfort, trust, and positive experiences with food over time. We meet each child where they are and work at a pace that feels safe and manageable for both the child and the family.

If you’re unsure whether feeding therapy is the right fit, we are happy to talk through your concerns and help guide you.
